Iranian Shura Council: Israel was involved in the explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port
Member of the Iranian Shura Council, Mohammad Al-Sarraj:Israel was involved in the explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas. It was not an accident. Explosives were planted in the containers, either in the country of origin or an external actor.
On April 26, 2025, a devastating explosion rocked Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, Iran, leaving at least 40 people dead and over 1,200 injured. The blast reportedly originated from shipping containers suspected of holding hazardous materials, including sodium perchlorate—a chemical commonly used in rocket fuel. The incident has attracted significant international attention due to its scale and potential implications.
In response, Iranian authorities have launched a full investigation. President Masoud Pezeshkian visited the port following the explosion and declared three days of national mourning as emergency crews continue recovery and containment efforts.
In the aftermath, Mohammad Al-Sarraj, a member of Iran’s Shura Council, publicly accused Israel of orchestrating the attack. According to Al-Sarraj, explosives may have been planted in the containers—either in their country of origin or by an external actor—pointing to deliberate sabotage rather than an industrial accident. However, no independent sources have verified this allegation, and Iranian officials have not presented any concrete evidence to support the claim.
