Channel Crossings over 10,000 as UK Braces for Warmest Week of 2025
Nearly 500 migrants in 8 dinghies illegally crossed the channel yesterday taking this years total to 10,358, over 40% more then this time last year
The number of migrants arriving in the UK after crossing the English Channel this year is nearing 10,000, as the country enters what is expected to be the warmest week of 2025 so far.
On Monday, images captured individuals wearing life jackets disembarking from a Border Force vessel in Dover, Kent, under sunny skies.
According to provisional figures from the Home Office, 9,885 people had made the journey from France as of Sunday.
One vessel was seen arriving in Dover carrying around 50 migrants, while another Border Force boat later departed into the Channel, suggesting further arrivals may be underway.
An official update confirming whether the 10,000 mark has been surpassed is expected on Tuesday, when data for Monday’s crossings is released.
If confirmed, this would mark the earliest point in the calendar year that the milestone has been reached. By comparison, the 10,000 threshold was not crossed until 24 May in 2024, and 17 June in 2023.
