Breaking News: First regular flight from Syria to EU takes off for Bucharest

In a historic milestone for post-conflict air travel, the first regular commercial flight from Syria to the European Union is currently en route to Bucharest, marking the resumption of direct air links between the two regions after more than a decade of disruption.

Operated by Romanian carrier Dan Air, the flight departed from Damascus International Airport earlier today and is scheduled to land at Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest this afternoon.

Dan Air has announced plans to operate the Damascus–Bucharest route up to six times per week, aiming to serve both the Syrian diaspora and growing business and humanitarian ties between Syria and Romania.

This move signals a tentative thaw in air transport relations between Syria and the EU, though officials stress that all flights comply with current international regulations and safety protocols.

Stay tuned for live updates as the flight lands and officials comment on this major development.
